7 Chakras and their meanings:

Root Chakra (Muladhara- Root, Base or Foundation) – Red

The Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine. It is taught as being base for our sense of security and safety in ourselves when it comes to the world around us. The element represented by the Root Chakra is earth, because it is responsible for keeping us centered, connected to our bodies and the physical realm, as well as helping us to remain grounded. 

Sacral Chakra (Svadhishthana- Place of Self) – Orange

The Sacral Chakra is located in the lower belly, close to the sexual organs. It is taught to be the center of our sexuality, emotions, and creativity. It is what is known to govern our sexual experiences, senses, and feelings. The element represented by the sacral chakra is water, because it is so fluid and it flows and moves our emotions

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura- City of Jewels) – Yellow

 

The Solar Plexus chakra sits maybe an inch above the belly button in the upper abdomen. It is taught to be the center of personal power, governing our self-image, confidence, courage, and determination. The element represented by the The Solar Plexus is fire, which is to known to cause the effect of taking action to make things happen. This essentially is the element use to help achieve our dreams. 

Heart Chakra (Anahata- Unhurt or unstruck) – Green

 

The Heart Chakra is located in the center of the chest, in line with the physical heart. This chakra is in connection to healing, serenity, and balance. This energy source is responsible for our ability to love and show compassion to ourselves and others. It also taught to provide positive qualities of understaning, forgiveness, gratitude, and joy.  

Throat Chakra (Vishuddha- Purity) – Blue

 

The Throat Chakra is at the center of the throat (the front of the neck). It is taught to be our center for communication which allows us the ability to use our voice to express our beliefs, creativity, and beliefs. This also includes, listening to others, and speaking our truth. The element associated with the throat chakra is air.

Third Eye Chakra (Ajna- Perception or Beyond Wisdom) – Indigo

The Third Eye Chakra sits between the eyebrows and serves as our center of intuition and imagination. This energy is the source that helps us spot signs and premonitions from the universe which helps to guide us down the right path. It also aids in us being able to listen to our intuition and inner wisdom. This chakra is taught to be associated with psychic abilities, perceptions, and dreams.

Crown Chakra (Sahasrara- Thousand-Petaled) – Purple

The Crown Chakra sits above the top of the head and has the appearance of a floating ball of energy. This chakra is taught to represent the divine connection that is linked to kundalini which is known to help ease stress, anxiety, improve cognitive funtion, and boost confidence and appreciation. This energy rises from the root chakra to the crown, resulting in a transcendant and enlightening awakening.
